Cincinnati, Ohio - Each year, The Freestore Foodbank hosts a variety of community events including the popular “Taste of the NFL” – the only NFL sanctioned local event where all of the Cincinnati Bengals players and the coaches are in attendance. Nationally known as an outreach effort to help fight hunger on the part of NFL teams across the country, the local “Taste of NFL” celebrity dinner party in this area is scheduled for June 1
st in Paul Brown Stadium and is already sold out. Always a great party, the 2007 theme is “Live and Let Fry” with a dinner-by-the-bite format prepared by some of the finest chefs in the area. All proceeds generated locally are to benefit The Freestore Foodbank.
As most of the Foodbank’s food is distributed to clients in grocery bags, paper grocery bags are an enduring signature symbol for The Freestore Foodbank. For the “Taste of NFL” event, Duro Bag was invited to print and provide 1500 special grocery bags for the event with the “Live and Let Fry” tag lines, flaming artwork and additional corporate sponsorship logos. The bags will be used for distributing prizes at the event and ongoing promotional purposes for the mission of the Foodbank.
The Freestore Foodbank of Cincinnati, Ohio distributes 11 million pounds of food each year to approximately 500 nonprofit member agencies in 20 counties throughout Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana. The products are a lifeline of support for thousands of low-income families in the region. Member agencies include soup kitchens, emergency food pantries, nonprofit schools, day care centers, homes for the elderly and therapeutic treatment facilities serving low-income clients. These agencies benefit from the Foodbank's ability to locate, reprocess, salvage, or purchase food at a low cost.
National and local companies donate additional food to the Foodbank regularly which may be a result of negative test markets, mislabeling, over-production, or off-specification production. By donating, companies keep products out of landfills while helping to feed hungry people. Duro Bag is committed to projects demonstrating environmental sustainability and was delighted to be an event partner for “The Taste of NFL – Live and Let Fry” celebrity party to help combat hunger.
