Duro team members at the Jackson, TN plant banded together to raise $1,858 for the American Cancer Society by participating in the organization’s Relay for Life – an overnight event in which communities across the globe gather to honor those who have battled cancer. The team sold Duro Bag Relay T-shirts, more than 140 homemade breakfast sandwiches, and numerous homemade treats such as cakes, brownies and pies to raise money for the annual fundraiser. All items were donated by Duro team members and their families.
The team also donated more than 1,500 luminary bags to the local chapter. On May 14, 2010, the bags, along with hundreds of others, lit a path under the stars during the luminaria ceremony, where they recognized those who are currently fighting cancer, those who have lost the battle with cancer, and those who have fought cancer and won. The ceremony symbolized the hope and perseverance with which every cancer patient and their loved ones must continue to fight. Several Duro team members participated in the ceremony, having the names of friends and family members dedicated during the service.
These team members donated homemade treats for the fundraiser.
